When To Go To Hospital
Most first time mums are unsure as to when to go into hospital once labour begins. Most midwives will say not to come in until your contractions are less than five minutes apart, however go with your instinct – you will know when you think you should go in. The worst that can happen is they will send you home.
- Remember to telephone the delivery suite before you get to the hospital, so they know you are coming (you can find the telephone number on the front of your maternity notes).
- Don’t be put off – if your contractions are getting stronger and you feel you can’t cope at home then you must insist you are admitted.
- Remember to bring your bag and baby’s bag with you when you go in!
